چکیده

In engineering application, a two-stage biological aerated filter (BAF) has been deployed to achieve the steady nitrogen removal of wastewater from mining area ionic rare earth with low carbon (C/N) ratio. However, cost-efficiency medium and source casts shadow over further development. this study, influences four media (i.e., volcanic, zeolite, quartz, ceramisite) three soluble sources acetate, glucose, methanol) on N were systematically compared. Applying volcanic quartz showed favorable start-up performance due biophilic surface dense packing, respectively. regardless type, [NH4+-N]0 = 50 [NO3−-N]0 30 mg/L, C/N ratio 3 was required meet discharge standards NH4+-N, TN, COD, acetate confirmed applicable for all selected medium-packed BAFs. Introduction sweet potato residues as solid decreased amount added by more than 13%. The 16S rRNA high-throughput gene sequencing revealed that Sphingomonas Nitrospira abundant in aerobic stages zeolite-packed BAFs, Such community integrated extensively distributed Thauera, Clostridium_sensu_stricto, Proteiniclasticum anoxic stage accounted efficient removal. Thus, deploying proposed. These findings will provide valuable references selection and, consequently, optimize operational performance.

Atrazine removal from aqueous solutions using submerged biological aerated filter

Atrazine is widely used in the agriculture as an herbicide. Due to its high mobility, Atrazine leaks into the groundwaters, surface waters, and drinking water wells. Many physical and chemical methods have been suggested for removing Atrazine from aquatic environments. However, these methods are very costly, have many performance problems, produce a lot of toxic intermediates which are very har...

Simultaneous carbon and nitrogen removal from municipal wastewater in full-scale unaerated/aerated submerged filters.

Characterization and evaluation of a biological submerged filter was carried out on a full-scale pilot plant performing removal of biochemical oxygen demand (BOD) and total nitrogen (TN) from pre-treated urban wastewater. The average influent values of BOD5, chemical oxygen demand (COD) and TN were 370, 1,015 and 60 mg/L, respectively. The pilot plant produced good discharge quality during stea...

Biological Phosphorus and Nitrogen Removal from Wastewater Using Moving Bed Biofilm Process

In this research, an experimental study to evaluate nutrient removal from synthetic wastewater by a lab-scale moving bed biofilm process was investigated. Also, kinetic analysis of the process with regard to phosphorus and nitrogen removal was studied with different mathematical models. For nutrient removal, the moving bed biofilm process was applied in series with anaerobic, anoxic and aerobic...

Biological Removal of phosphate from Synthetic Wastewater Using Bacterial Consortium

The biological phosphorus removal is a microbial process widely used for removing phosphorus fromwastewater to avoid eutrophication of water bodies. The study was aimed to screen the efficient phosphatereducing isolates and used to remove phosphate from synthetic wastewater using batch scale process. Thethree most efficient phosphate reducers were isolated and screened from eu...
